St Davids to Skomer Island with Thousand Islands Wildlife Expeditions

An afternoon trip from St Justinian’s, across St Brides bay to Skomer was well enjoyed by all today. The weather was kind with sunshine blue sky and sea. North Haven Skomer had lots of puffins, Guillemots and Razorbills actively preparing for the breeding season. Bluebells were seen in flower in vast numbers. On the return journey we saw a minimum of five Porpoise just South of Ramsey Island. Around the South corner of the Island we visited a few caves and found many Kittiwakes sitting, also breeding colonies of Auks and some Seals as well

Babies at Mwnt

Nice bright sunshine, blue skies but a chilly onshore wind at Mwnt today. Lots of ‘babies’ to be seen from Stonechat to Bottle-nosed Dolphin – and what a display they put on today – and only one other person to see it besides myself.

RSPB Ramsey Island

A fantastic day on RSPB Ramsey Island today. Buzzard, Kestrel, Peregrine Falcon taking a pigeon, Blue skies – refreshing wind, alive with wheatears, lots of passing Swallows, Sand martins, Chough, fledged Ravens, Warblers, Seals, Porpoise etc etc. Also, a lovely cuppa before boarding the boat home followed by ‘feet up’ and a glass of red in front of the fire – retirement gets better!!
