Maarloes today + more

Both the long staying Glossy Ibis and a Marsh Harrier were at Marloes Mere today. A lovely walk also around St Ann’s head ( just following another of my interest’s in Lifeboats and Lighthouses) Last Friday it was Mullet in Neyland Marina. By the way the Hungry Trout in Newquay Ceredigion do the most fantastic mullet and salad – with chips and wine –oh wow

A Day at Sea with Voyages of Discovery

At last some good weather and a super day at sea with Voyages of Discovery. This morning we went off shore to the Island of Grassholm and the Smalls Lighthouse.. The Gannet colony at Grassholm was as active and impressive as always, also lots of Pufiins, Kittiwakes, Manx Shearwater and Common Dolphins etc. Also the odd Great Skua, Whimbrel and a flock of Dunlin passing through signifying either the end of summer or a mixed year of weather confusing migratory birds. In the order of 150 Atlantic Grey seals around the Smalls lighthouse. Also a very brief sighting of probably a Minke whale. This afternoon was taken up with the annual around Ramsey Island rowing race and RNLI St Davids Lifeboat launch. Thanks to VOD, skippers crew and passengers for a really great day out.

Today at Pembrey

Twelve months since the years visit to Pembrey for a Vintage car Club meeting. All sorts of pre war Sports cars and Racing cars, a larger entry than last year as well. Beautiful sunshine, brilliant cars driven as they should be – to win, and not hidden away in private collections and museums.

In between times of rain, wind, high seas etc I managed a trip to Skomer.. Loads and loads of puffins in North Haven. A fairly ‘bracing’ start in windy and wet conditions to find also Porpoise, Raven, Chough, Guillies, Razors, Fulmars who were particularly aerobatic in the wind, etc ,,,,,,, A Brill day also ended with sunshine !!

Double Dolphin Day with Thousand Islands wildlife Expeditions

A fantastic trip yesterday (5July12)enabled us to see not only many hundreds of Common Dolphin but also a pod of 10 to 15 of the elusive Rissos Dolphin. This group had one very young calf and one, maybe two other youngsters as well. Also we saw both the Gannets Seals and other birds of Grassholm.

The weather has been so dreadful, rain wind, fog blah blah that nothing outdoors has been achieved. So, I though I would put just a few of many photos in rise and drop sequences of two Whales I took last year. No not Pembrokeshire, Iceland
