Merry Christmas everyone

 

Sunset looking at The South Bishops Lighthouse from Whitesands beach a few weeks ago when the weather was not as miserable as today…

 

There was a good selection of Birds on a grey and murky day at The Welsh Wildlife Centre 4 days ago including Robins and a Mistle thrush both specially there for Christmas, also, Water rail, Curlew, Teal, a lovely drake Goldeneye and in the afternoon gloom a pair of Reed bunting

 

Unusual, for me at least to see a Mistle thrush on the Teifi marshes. Photo taken from the Old Rail Track near the Mallard Hide on 17 December

 

No doubt 'real photographers' can find all sorts of faults with the photos but tonight as I watched the Moon rise over St David's Airfield the experience was really what mattered. No wind and silence - can't beat it. Such a magical County we live in.

 

BIRDIES - a few from Cilgerran a couple of weeks ago Curlew, Heron, Little grebe and Snipe

 

A highlight of winter for me are Whooper swans returning to Pembrokeshire from their breeding grounds in Iceland. Here are 8 of them spending time near Croes Goch. Magnificant birds of the wild. Long distance photos very heavily cropped

 

Threatening clouds over Ramsey Sound

 

Yet another fantastic Pembrokeshire sunset, this time from Newgale. I really was not sure which photo to post so I posted all four in the hope you like one of them. We in St Davids are so lucky that our local coast looks sort of West. Again no filters - as it was - our World at its best.

 

'Making a splash' I was lucky enough to be in the right place to see St Davids Lifeboat launching this morning.

 

Another visit to Cilgerran today and another chance to see the Ring necked duck. Mrs Kingfisher was enjoying small fish and I think freshwater prawns (please correct me if I am wrong) as were the Little grebes. It was nice to see an old ( sorry long standing friend Jon Green !! ) who with younger eyes found a Snipe having a 'kip' plus of course the obligatory photo of Curlews coming in to roost at high tide

 

A nice double figure weight Salmon at Cenarth yesterday - very tricky to photograph thats for sure

 

Med Gull

 

A Mediterranean Gull looking so white and clean in the gloom of this afternoon at Lower Town

A trip out Of Pembrokeshire a few days ago to Nant y Arian to see some winter visiting Brambling feeding on Rowan seeds.

 

Another glorious Pembrokeshire sunset at Whitesands tonight. Looking towards the South Bishops Lighthouse beyond Ramsey Island. No filters and no photo shop etc to enhance colours - simply as it was.

 

Thousands upon thousands of Valella Valella washed up on Whitesands yesterday and today and exciting and moody skies over Ramsey island today

 

Goodwick was a very good place to be today for Rainbows - appearing and disappearing as if by magic

 

A short visit to Cilgerran and a few moments between rain showers and managed a quick snap of a Ring billed duck. It has somehow found its way from the Americas to here. In case someone Googles it for a bit more info the species used to be known as Ring necked duck

 

Just looked at some old - 2010 photos of I took of Seals underwater. Pup is old enough to swim very well and Mummy seal gave the pup a last swimming lesson before mating with Mr seal and leaving the pup to fend for itself. The other two are a female and male simply swimming underwater.
