Woodchat shrike - seen this afternoon in SW Wales - quite some distance from me so heavily cropped and sharpened but hay ho what a cracking bird

 

A few days ago both Lifeboats launched, and, were on exercise with The Coastguard Helicopter at St Davids. Great skill shown by both the Lifeboat and Helicopter crews in windy and chopper conditions. Lots of training and experience gives them the chance of being able to something as wonderful as saving lives.

 

A few more from my visit to RSPB Dinas. The blue bells were lovely and this iconic woodland of Alder and Oak was once one of many places used to hide from 'The Law' by Twm Sion Ceti 1532-1609 - real name Thomas Jones sometimes known as The Welsh Robin Hood. Also pics of a male Chaffinch and of a female Chaffinch practising levitation.

 

More Birdie ones - another trip yesterday to RSPB Dinas to see some of the breeding birds in this lovely location. The woodland males a perfect home for many breeding species. Pics in the woodland of Great tit, Pied flycatcher - male and female and, a very shy male Redstart
