Osprey

 

Yesterday was somewhat of a 'red letter day' as leaving St Davids I saw an Osprey flying in the direction of St Davids   It was between the A487 and the Council tip.  Then I saw the Teifi Osprey on the St Dogmaels side of the Teifi whilst on a boat trip.  The photo is of the Teifi Osprey a few days ago.

Some nice little finds today a Wigeon flew in at Goodwick where there were two Little egrets - one much larger than the other. At Lower Town, after much deliberation I have plumped for Mandarin as opposed to Wood duck Happy days

 

On my home last night found a lay by near Croes Goch just in time to get a quick photo of an ' Iridescent Cloud' before the gap in the cloud cover closed and the formation faded. Also known as 'Sun dogs or Fire rainbows'

 

The moment a Black headed gull regurgitated its fishy dinner after harassment by an Arctic skua taking advantage of an easy meal. This was on a boat trip with Sea Mor departing from Newquay. The birds were a very very long way from the boat hence a very heavily cropped not brilliant photo but it was the event that is of interest

 

A visit to Teifi Marshes a week or so ago was rewarded with a brief sighting of a first winter Reed Warbler. Just a couple of quick photos was all the bird allowed. Very pleasing for me as this is the first time I have ever managed to photograph a Reed warbler.

 

On a recent boat trip with 'A Bay to Remember' we came across a mass of Gulls feeding on a 'bait ball' An Arctic Skua (Parasitic Skua) arrived and harassed a herring gull which quickly gave up its catch of lots of 'small fish' Despite there being so many were mostly caught and eaten by the Skua before falling into the sea. A fantastic aerial display

 

From a few weeks ago - Little Grebe and 'babies' - they really are very small. Just to note I used a Telephoto lens from a Public Footpath and the photos are heavily cropped as well

 

A quiet couple of hours at Cilgerran yesterday the obligatory Kingfisher, Heron and nice to see a couple of Snipe
